The Coincidance Dance Theatre based its latest production on the story of Tchaikovsky's well-known ballet Sleeping Beauty. The performance interprets the rich patchwork of symbols in the original tale on many levels. The focus falls on the struggles of the young girl reaching womanhood, unpacking the most characteristic symbols of the story, such as the dripping blood, the impenetrable thornbushes separating the castle from the outside world, and the illusion of the hundred-year dream. The story is told by the youthful dance ensemble in the language of contemporary dance and a psychological context that remains relevant today.
The performance will be followed by a free activity session at Banner Square called Reverberation for all holders of tickets for the performance.
